A launch tower is constructed on the launch pad of an unguided rocket for the purpose of guiding the rocket until it is fast enough for aerodynamic stabilization to take effect. For the launch of self-guided rockets a launch tower is unnecessary. Service towers and supply towers are sometimes falsely called launch towers.
